How To Cook Dynamite Lumpia Recipe

How To Cook Dynamite Lumpia Recipe - Lumpia are pastries of Chinese origin similar to fresh popiah or fried spring rolls popular in Southeast Asia. The term lumpia derives from Hokkien lunpia , which is an alternate term for popiah. The recipes, both fried and fresh versions, were brought by Chinese immigrants from the Fujian province of China to Southeast Asia and became popular where they settled in Indonesia and the Philippines.

In the Netherlands, Belgium and France, it is spelled loempia which is the old Indonesian spelling for lumpia and has also become the generic name for "spring roll" in Dutch and French. A variant is the Vietnamese lumpia, wrapped in a thinner piece of pastry, in a size close to a spring roll though, the wrapping closes the ends off completely, which is typical for lumpia. In Venezuela, it is spelled "lumpia" and was introduced by the Chinese who migrated to South America.
Have you ever tried a dish that completely blew you away? This one is a must-try dish! Dynamite, also known as ‘Chili Bomb’, is a great snack and/or appetizer. Eating chili on its own is something that the common person wouldn't do, but adding some other spices like sauteed garlic and onion with a mix of ground beef would definitely bring ‘chili eating’ a notch higher.
In case you’re thinking what is going to happen when I eat this ‘dynamite’, let merecount my first dynamite encounter. There was a group giving out free snacks as it was their anniversary. Who would pass up on a ‘free snack’ offer, right? There I was lining up. When I got to the desk where they served the snacks, it had almost everything that would make the snack Filipino, except this extra serving of ‘dynamite’. Unlike this recipe here, the dynamite served had no wrapper. It was chili in plain view with ground beef inserted along the middle part. Munch munch. Gradually, my mouth felt the heat, but more and more I craved for it! I would say to you right now, “You have got to try this because IT’S THE BOMB!”

How To Cook Dynamite Lumpia Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground pork
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 10 pieces long green pepper (siling pansigang or finger peppers)
  • Lumpia wrappers
  • 1 cup Panko bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ cups cooking oil
Instructions
  1. In a bowl, combine the ground pork, garlic powder, onion powder, 1 piece egg, and bread crumbs, salt and ground black pepper. Mix well. Set aside.
  2. Arrange the long green pepper in the middle of the lumpia wrapper. Cover the pepper with 1 to 2 tablespoons of the ground chicken mixture. Wrap the pepper and chicken mixture. See this egg roll recipe video for guidance. However, you will only need to cover one side completely; the side with the pepper stem should be open so that part of the pepper will be visible.
  3. Heat the cooking oil in a frying pan.
  4. While the oil is being heated, beat an egg in a wide bowl.
  5. Dip the wrapped lumpia in beaten egg then roll over the Panko bread crumbs. Make sure that the lumpia is fully coated with crumbs.
  6. Gently place each piece of lumpia on the frying pan. Fry in low to medium heat for 5 to 6 minutes per side or until the color of the outer part turns golden brown. Note: the oil should be hot enough to fry the lumpia, but not too hot to the point of quickly browning the bread crumbs (250F is good enough). Otherwise, there is a possibility that the chicken will be somewhat raw.
  7. Transfer to a plate line with paper towels. This will absorb the oil.
  8. Arrange in a serving plate and Serve.
